New Pro Gear Oceanus!

(http://www.charkbait.com/cs/images/rodsnreels/ProGear/ProGear_Oceanus_ld1.jpg)The new Pro Gear Oceanus 30 lever drag is finally here! Folks have been anticipating the introduction of this reel since the spring when plans were announced. It's taken some months to finally produce the reel, but it's here now and destined to bring more tears to the eyes of one arrogant offshore manufacturer of over-priced, over-hyped, price-fixed fishing jewelry. (Not to name names but I bet you can guess who I'm talking about).
[/URL]The Oceanus is a leverdrag, with good freespool performance. It incorporates a one piece machined aluminum frame, seven stainless steel ball bearings, a stainless steel main and pinion gear, and large drag made from state of the art fibers. The drag is "wet" for added smoothness in operation. The reel features a 4.9:1 gear ratio, with a line capacity of 300 yards of 30# mono. (That spec was based upon spooling with Izor First String - which is not the skinniest line out there...just one of the toughest. So, that spec is VERY conservative.) The reel will produce a consistent 14#'s of drag and button down in the low 20's. The Oceanus 30 weighs 25 ounces, making it a relatively light reel capable of hefty performance. Not to beat a dead horse, but it's a Torsett (er, I mean Torsa) killer. To make that comparison even more blunt, it's priced at only $229, AND we can sweeten the deal even more because it's not subject to the same price-fixing pressure as that nameless offshore manufacturer of bicycle components.
